Earth is (beside Sedna) the only planet in the solar system, whose name is not derived from the Greek or Roman mythology, the origin of the now used form of naming comes from the Anglo-Saxon word Erda (Erdaz), which means ground, soil, and Earth, the word changed to Eorthe or Erthe in Old English and to Erde in German.

Earth's Signifigant Surface Features:
1) When two plates collide, one may be forced under the other causing ocean trenches, volcanic islands, and mountain ranges. 2) When two plates move away from each other, rifts occur. In the ocean, this process is called sea floor spreading, and on land rift valleys are formed.3) When two plates slide past each other, there are faults.Features such as volcanoes and earthquakes exist mainly along the plate boundaries. Most moons and some planets have many impact craters, however these are rare features on Earth.

Earth Mythology:
The first Greek god was actually a goddess. She is Gaia, or Mother Earth, who created herself out of primordial chaos. From her fertile womb all life sprang, and unto Mother Earth all living things must return after their allotted span of life is over.
The way of Mother Gaia is the passive, feminine, Yin way of healing. All we need to do to regain our health is to return to the bosom of Mother Nature and live in accordance with Her laws. The Gaia archetype underlies all notions of the Nature Cure. Mother Nature is a healing goddess.
